The Vagina Monologues
June 2016 – Sinéad Dunphy is proud to present her production of Eve Ensler’s Vagina Monologues on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th June at 8pm in St. Peter’s Church on North Main Street, Cork (formerly the Vision Centre). Based on author Ensler’s ‘Vagina Interviews’ conducted with women from all around the world, and including some local stories, this hilariously witty and moving collection of tales gives voice to a chorus of lusty, outrageous, poignant, brave and thoroughly human stories.
This production sees Ensler’s writing mixed with stories from local women bringing the audience on a journey of hysterical and equally touching journeys where we remove the mysticism of the all-too terrifying word – the Vagina and allow people to discover the truth behind the myths associated with the original twinkle box!
The Vagina Monologues addresses women’s resiliency, sensuality and the social stigma surrounding abuse and violence against women and girls. The show will feature volunteer cast members from the Montfort College of Performing Arts Advanced Adult Acting Class and hopes to raise awareness of and ending violence against women. Helena Sheridan, Carol Cashman, Áine McLatchie, Pamela Kiely and Lucy O’Connell will thrill audiences with a plethora of characters brought to life as they share these women’s stories in the intimate setting of St. Peter’s Church.
With all proceeds going to Mná Feasa and Cuan Lee in support of domestic abuse victims, this is the ultimate night out and for an amazing cause. Grab your bestie, your mother, your granny and bring the boys too to have your minds opened – just like a flower!
Tickets are available both on the door and from Eventbrite.ie at the tiny price of €15, however fees may apply online.
