Explore what’s happening right now in St. Peter’s Cork.
‘Cork has been pivotal to the history of Ireland for a thousand years but the city and harbour also have astonishingly strong connections to the history of the wider world. In the medieval age, ships were constantly rolling into the harbour from France, Portugal and Spain. Then came the Tudor explorers en route to the…
New Archaeology Lecture Series Early last year, Dr William O’Brien designed a series of lectures with colleagues from UCC called the Origins of Cork. Last year’s series were hugely popular, and looked at a broad selection of historic periods in Cork. We loved hosting the events here in St Peter’s and we are delighted that…

ABOUT ST PETER'S CORK
St Peter’s Cork is situated in the heart of the Medieval city and is Cork’s oldest church with parts of the building dating back to 12th century. Though no longer a religious venue, the building is still open to the public and is a wonderful place to visit, an oasis of culture and heritage in the centre of the city. The venue can also be hired for corporate events, private receptions and even wedding ceremonies!
St Peter’s Cork offers a fantastic introduction to Cork culture with a central exhibition, A City by the Sea, telling the story of Cork from early settlers to modern day. Our friendly staff will be happy to show you around the venue and offer further information on the latest exhibitions and events in St Peter’s and around the city.
We are the halfway mark between the magnificent Elizabeth Fort and the beautiful Bells of Shandon, so call into us for a delicious coffee in our in-house café (serving specialty Cork coffee & treats!) as you take in an exhibition and explore the unique and historic city of Cork. We stock a full selection of city walking trails and our venue team are on call to help with any queries you may have, and indeed can design a bespoke walk just for you.
If you’re interested in our culture and heritage programme then please visit our events and exhibitions timeline from the top menu bar. We host monthly touring exhibitions by local artists and community groups as well as longer-running exhibitions on local and national history. At St. Peter’s Cork we are also host events for the city’s many festivals and curate a lively programme of arts and heritage events.
We are open to the public 6 days a week completely free of charge. We invite you to pop in to enjoy our visitor centre and exhibitions. There is a lovely atmosphere, with indoor and outdoor seating. Come in and see our secret courtyard garden and escape to a peaceful haven and forget you are in the city centre.
