Transitions: Art Exhibition
Place: St Peter's Cork
We are delighted to present this month’s art exhibition, Transitions! For July, the work of local artist Maureen Cahill will be exhibiting in our mezzanine gallery.
Maureen lives along the Wild Atlantic Way, an artist and teacher for the past 35 years. Maureen has passed on her creative flair to her two daughters, both now artists themselves! After years of travel across Australia, Singapore and India, Maureen returned to Ireland, setting up a gallery in Kinsale. She also taught watercolour and adult painting lessons in the city centre. Maureen has worked with children and adults alike. She gave Arts & Crafts classes in Colaiste Choilm Ballincollig for 20 years, retiring officially in 2010. Maureen continues to run weekend workshops with colleagues and
friends at her studio home in Kerry.
Transitions is a delightful mix of sculptures, 3-D texture work and classical Baroque-inspired paintings. Maureen puts her diverse style down to her teaching career, having spent decades teaching different styles to diverse audiences. Dance is the underlying theme of her latest exhibition. Ballet and ballerinas feature in most of her work on display in St. Peter’s. The mood of her art is mostly sombre with an emphasis on controlled light. Her paintings explore her love of classical oil painting with hints to the Baroque painters, of which Caravaggio is her favourite.
Transitions will be officially launched on Thursday 4th July at St. Peter’s Cork. Come along from 5pm to meet the artist and browse here latest exhibition.
