Flipside: From Baroque to Rock
Date: October 14th
Place: St. Peter's Cork, North Main Street
East Cork Early Music Festival presents ‘Flipside: From Baroque to Rock’, a Sunday evening concert for all to enjoy!
This wonderful music is brought to us by Sebastian Adams, composer; Mark Chambers, counter-tenor; Simon MacHale, singer-songwriter; Marja Gaynor, baroque violin; ECEMF String Quartet; Cork Viol Consort.
In the atmospheric setting of our historic church, festival artists bring to life a wide variety of genres, unique but all connected in their own way with early music. This concert will feature the premiere of a newly-commissioned string quartet by star Irish composer Sebastian Adams, related to the viol consort genre of the ‘In Nomine’. Multi-talented Renaissance man Simon MacHale brings a background as a singer with many international early music ensembles to his brand of electronic folk music. Counter-tenor Mark Chambers introduces the seventeenth-century version of jazz riffs with an exploration of ground basses. Relax and enjoy an unusual feast for the ears, with something for absolutely everyone.
