About the Artists
Tom Campbell is a Scottish artist and performer. However he is now based largely in Cork City, Ireland. Recently he has spent some time working in Barcelona. having traveled widely in western Europe he still has aspirations to see the world. He won’t stop creating art, music performances and hopefully…….fun.
“if there was an art movement I would relate to it would possibly be expressionism and Dada. I work in a fairly free and spontaneous manner and believe that art is not a luxury item but a necessity for society that as humans we cannot be and have never been without , the importance is the creative act (in the larger sense of the word) and this is not and never will be confined to the artist , art is for all.”
John Corkery is a full time artist working at Outlaw Studios, Cork City. He studied chemical engineering at the Cork Institute of Technology and completed his studies there in 1990. He has had an interest in art from an early age and has been painting full time since 1995. He has attended many art residencies and retreats such as Cill Rialig, Valpaiso in Spain, San Cresci in Italy and Annamacarig in Co. Monaghan.
His work is mainly in oils on canvas and the subject matter can vary from still life, absract landscape or life portraits. He enjoys making his own colours, grinding with amuller pigment with oil to make particular colours. His favourite artists include Van Gogh, Picasso, Miro, the Renaissance period and some Irish artists such as Nathanial Hone and Roderic O Connor.
Recent exhibtions include The Sextant bar in Cork City and presently he has an exhibition at Goldbergs bar. Currently he works from his studio at Outlaw Studios in the Marina Commercial Park in Cork.
Keep an eye out for workshops and opportunities to meet the artists in venue!
